More Households Now Qualify for SNAP ( Food Assistance)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income households buy adequate, healthy food. Eligible households receive monthly benefits on a Link card. Starting January 1, 2016, you may be eligible for SNAP benefits if your household’s gross monthly income is below the following:
Note: Households with higher incomes may qualify if they include a person 60 years or older or with a disability
How to apply for SNAP benefits:

- By phone at 1-800-843-6154
- Or by visiting a DHS Family Community Resource Center. Find the nearest location online (https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?module=12) or by phone (1-800-843-6154)
